Meet Dr Akbar Abbas, an esteemed ENT Surgeon at Aga Khan University and Hospital. With a wealth of experience and expertise in ear surgery, tumor surgery, and cochlear implantation, Dr Akbar Abbas is dedicated to providing exceptional care to his patients. His main areas of specialization within ear surgery include mid-ear surgery, cholesteatoma surgery, and cochlear implantation, where he has garnered recognition for his precision and skill.

When asked about the most challenging aspect of being a surgeon, Dr Akbar Abbas simply responds with one word “responsibility.” He understands that the well-being of his patients rests on his shoulders from the moment they enter the hospital until they leave, and this responsibility weighs heavily on him.

Dr. Abbas’s journey towards becoming a surgeon began in his early years, with a clear decision forming during his schooling. Despite the demanding nature of his work, which often sees him in the operating room five to six days a week, he finds joy and fulfillment in his profession.

While routine surgeries may not require extensive preparation, Dr. Abbas diligently prepares for complex procedures days in advance.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Abbas enjoys a variety of activities, including reading, gardening, and exploring nature through walks and jogging. His favorite book, “Yadon ki Baarat” by Josh Maleeh Abadi in Urdu, and “The History of the World” in English, reflect his diverse interests and intellectual curiosity.

Regarding the impact of digitalization on healthcare, Dr. Abbas acknowledges both the benefits and drawbacks. While digitalization has provided unprecedented access to information, thereby saving time and improving efficiency, it has also led to increased screen time, posing potential health risks. However, Dr. Abbas believes that the benefits far outweigh the downsides.

One of Dr. Abbas’s hidden talents is his ability to foster a positive and engaging environment for his students and colleagues. He excels in building rapport and making others feel at ease, which contributes to a more effective and enjoyable work environment. Additionally, he takes pride in his skill as a “mini rose expert,” nurturing and cultivating beautiful roses in his free time.

This is an informative video for students and patients for making informed decisions about their own and others health while choosing a surgeon. Dr Akbar Abbas is one of the best ENT specialist in Karachi, Pakistan. He specializes in otolaryngology, cochlear implants, ear surgery and is one of the few experts on pituitary and head and neck cancer surgery in Pakistan.
